In 1993 back in Holland ones again with the Amsterdam club the MCA for a great weekend with a free journey true the famous Amsterdam canals. Winners were: Carl Nunn in the 125, Johnny Lindhe for Sweden won the 80cc 14/16 beating his fellow countryman Lars Oskarsson and Dennis Eriksson. In the 80cc 12/14 Carlo v Loon from Holland beat Kenneth Karjalainen from Sweden.

In 1994 we had the first International Youth ever in Sweden organized by the Svenska Motorklub Kristianstad. Winners were the Swedes not only in the Nationcup but also individual. Robert Augustsson and Johnny Lindhe were the winners in the 125cc and Dennis Eriksson beat Andreas Floden in the 80cc 14/16. Kenneth Gundersen was at that time unbeatable in the 80 12/14 beating Rikard Serholt, Frederik Erlandsson and Ronny Bengtsson and brought Norway the victory.

In 1995 we were ones again at Aalborg and saw the Swedes taking the Nation cup for the second time in a row. Winners were: Ronny Bengtsson, Kenneth Gundersson, and Kristoffer Berg in the 80cc 12/14. In the 80cc 14/16 it was Niklas Hedin beating Dutch Arno vd Brink and Tom Church from England. The 125cc were all Sweden again as Rikard Eriksson took it from Fhillip Ohlsson and Bo Vang from Denmark.

1996
and the "Int Youth Hummelo" took place in Holland, Sweden was the most equivalence! In a whole weekend of great fun a lot of friendship was born between riders and parents, at the Int. Youth 1996 Hummelo. There were as a result of many invitations send around by the promoter 180 riders. From Sweden 32,Belgium 2 Germany 2 Luxembourg 4 Hungary 3 Switzerland 4 Poland 4 Norway 5 Great Britain 13 Denmark 29 and 81 Dutch riders.

80cc 12/14 year: Marc de Reuver Holland won all 3 heats and became top point-scorer of the event with 150 points. Kim Karlsson from Sweden took a 5th, 2nd, and 2nd to take second place overall ahead of Johan Andersson Sweden who was 6,3,and 3 in the heats. The 80cc 14/16 were Britain took a 1,2,3, which boost their approach for the team event enormous and giving Sweden with the last 125cc heat to go a nasty gloomy feeling. Winning was the stylish unbeatable Jordan Rose, 2 place for Wayne Smith and 3 place for Mark Hooley give them British the best score over the weekend for the Team-Event.

In the 125cc the small MX Nations did the job as Kenneth Gundersen took the win with two firsts and a second in the finals. Kenneth however was not unbeatable and Sven Breugelmans and Flying Scotsman Stuart Flockhart was a pain on his bump. Total second was the Scottish rider Stuart Flockhart, beating his fellow Countryman Steven Sword who was 5,3,4 in the heat also a very consistent race.

Sweden, taking 1039, won the Team event for the Third time in a row point beating the strong British who scored 1020 by only 19 points. Holland did as i expect not to well taking third place with only 845 points Denmark with their outstanding Team-Captain Erling Cristiansen were 4th with 526 points.

1997
was being given to organize in Great Britain on the 2nd and 3rd August and the ACU had Appointed Mildenhall near Cambridge as the organizer. A nice weekend in good weather conditions at the Int. Youth 1997. There were not too much riders as in particularl the British let us down. Organising was not to the best of standards, but the club tried very hard.

80cc 10/14 year: And the winner is a Dutchmen Bas Verhoeven beating the promising Richard Nilsson from Tomelilla Sweden in a big fight, among the top liners is Fredrick Stalnacke from the north of Sweden,  Sean Hodgson and Joe Cook are the points corers for Great Britain. The 80cc 14/16 Billy McKenzie from Longniddry (East Lothian) Scotland was the overall winner on his UK Kawasaki, Sean Stevens and Matt Winstanley were among the leader and the Swedish saw Ted Kalen and Martin Ogberg doing well. The Dutch had no chance in this class.

In the 125cc Kenneth Gundersen like last year was the winner, he was unbeatable although promising Jordan Rose from England and Welshman Glen Philips were trying hard, they had no change to deal with Kenneth. The Swedish team had bad luck, when Ronny Bengtsson hit trouble, but a third place in the first heat, showed us he could do the job. Best Dutchman was reigning Schoolboy Champ Arno vd Brink who came 6th overall. Great Britain takes the Nation Cup beating Sweden and Holland .

In the year 1998 the event was being giving to organize by the famous Tibro MK in Sweden. Bent Edberg and his staff made it one of the best ever and to the gladness of the initiator and clerk of the course: Håkan Broberg, there were no accidents watt so ever. A total of 300 riders filled up the program. Great Britain had the guts no to send a team and during jury meeting we decided to leave them alone for the time to come. It was a great weekend in good weather conditions The Organization was of a great class.

80cc 12/14 year: And the winner is a ones again a Dutchmen Nick Tuin from Enschede beating the promising Kasper Jensen from Sonderborg MK Denmark and Markus Norlen from Sweden. Mike Cock from Holland was 4th overall but in no contention with the leaders. Kjetil Gundersen took 5th place. The 80cc 14/16 was easily won by Björn Anderson from Sweden beating his two fellow countrymen Patrik Ekström and Martin Sandberg. First foreigner was Chris Mills from Newmarket on a Honda. Taking 5th.

In the 125cc Ronny Bengtsson was equal in points with Morgan Carlsson but Ronny has the better last heat. 3rd place went to Jacob Almer from Denmark, the winner of the last heat. Daniel Svensson and Kristoffer Berg were 4 and 5. The Nation Cup and the Perpetual Trophy of Alec Wright were taking by Sweden Norway was second and Holland third.

In 1999 the event was taking us back to Aalborg were the Danish federation the DMU with their leadsman Erlin Cristiansen were our host in sprinkling weather-conditions and on a good track only 3 accidents happened.

In the 80cc 12/14 years, Aigar Leok give the first win ever in this Int Event by beating Kevin Strijbos (the World Champ!!) and Swedish Marcus Norlen. Kasper Jensen from Denmark was third and Sydney Bales was the first from GB in 7th.  The 80cc 14/16 years was a British victory as no one could beat the Englishman Joe Cook. Second place went to Sebastian Hedin from Sweden and Rene Rasmussen from Denmark showed that more talent is coming out of Denmark in the coming years.

The 125cc should be giving victory to Kenneth Gundersen the GP rider from Norway (17th in the GP125 1999) but when he arrived to late at the clock in the waiting zone, he was taking out of the race. Cristoffer Berg from Sweden took the honors ahead of Kim Svensson and Ted Karlen so that we had a Swedish podium. Hendrik Gerlag from Holland was 4th and Toomas Triisa from Estonia was 5th. Overall victory in the Nation Cup was taking by Sweden; Great Britain was second and Holland just third beating Denmark.

Year 2000
. Emmen in Holland was the organiser of the Millennium International Youth. A great event with a perfect organization and more as 200 riders in the different classes.  Bart Nelissen from Holland was the winner in the 80cc 10/12 Years and he had to work hard to beat Morten Nielsen from Denmark. Rinus vd Ven a very tiny lad from Holland was third after a bog fight with Christian Juul from Denmark and Mats Åkerblom from Sweden. In the 80cc 14/16 Years. Sweden’s Marcus Norlen was in a class of his own. In the one but last lap however he blow up his engine and that made young Kasper Jensen from Denmark the overall winner. Bjarke Rolfing made the Danish success complete by coming home second ahead of another Danish youngster: Renè Rasmussen. Norlen due to excellent heat results could manage a 4th place overall just a point ahead of Martyn Waterhouse from the United Kingdom.

The battle was in the 125cc were Kristof Salaets from the northern part of Belgium was the best of the rest. Dutchman Maurice v Kasteren managed a second place and his fellow countryman Peter Mullenberg was after some turbulent racing from the backpack third overall. Denmark’s Jacob Almar came in fourth ahead of Ruben Tureluren from Belgium.

Denmark was a surprising but deserved winner of the Nation Cup.

The International Youth 2001 and VMC Vesterbaek in Denmark was the perfect organizer of the Honest International Youth. It was a great success, although the event was a stand in for Tibro Sweden (who could not match the regulations of the Swedish federation and were forced to give back the event in April).

160 riders showed up in the very south of the peninsula of Jutland and 7 nations participated. Remarkable the absence of the British riders of whom only two( the Mills brothers from Norfolk) made it!!!! Winner in the 80cc 12/13 Years class was Michael Mattsson from Sweden, ahead of his Fellow countryman Johan Carlsson and Robert Lind. The 80cc 14/16 years saw Danish Dennis Toftegaard winning followed by Sven Hansen. Jesper Ovemyr from Sweden was third. In the 125cc ones again we had a Gundersen as winner. This time Kjetil Gundersen showed us that like his brother and GP winner Kenneth he also has a lot of potential in winning the 125cc ahead of the swedish riders Robert Carlsson and winner from two out of three heats David Nilsson (who crashed in the final heat).

Team Sweden took the Nation cup far ahead of Denmark. Norway was third and Holland a disappointed fourth. To remember and commemorate Than Winger from Sweden a long time contender, who was killed in the winter 2001 tragically in a car-crash, a special price was instigated by the Promoter and was handed over by his Father and Sister to Mats Åkerblom from Sweden who on the first day injured his knee and lost a certain victory in the 85cc class.

The International Youth 2002. This year we were back in Sweden and ones again (like in 1994) it was the SMK Kristianstad that was the organisator of this years Honest International Youth. On Saturday due to extreme bad weather we were racing only one qualification heat for each class. The fantastic reception and hospitality compensate much of the discomfort, but the Sunday we forget all of that because then the sun burned on and brought us a perfectly race day.

Best in the 80cc up to 12 years became Johan Carlsson from Västerås in Sweden who ruled on his Yamaha. He obtained an easy win over young Danish Nikolaj Larssen. Ceriel Klein Kromhof from Holland lost the battle for third from another rider from Västerå, being Emill Rydell. Charlie Dackell from Sweden won the B Class. Fastest lady in the class was Marianne Veenstra from Holland who cam in the A final on a fine 27e places in the field of 78 riders. In the 80cc 13/16 years the Sweden also were the boss in the house with the sympathetic Jimmy Sörmander as a winner. He beat his fellow countryman Johan Håkansson. Fine surprise was the third place of the fast German Sascha Meyhof who beat Dutchman Mike Voorwinden.

In de 125 cc there were 145 riders out of whom William Saris from Holland on a Yamaha YZ250F was the fastest. Due to the fact that his carburettor came lose in the final of the three heats, he lost his overall place to David Nilsson from the organising club. Norwegian Fredrik Aulisether now took second overall ahead of his countryman Morten Fuglerud. Saris came away after winning two heats with an 8th place. In the 125B the winner was: Swedish Jonas Algotsson ahead of Tonnie van Boxtel from Holland and Philip Nilsson from nearby Tomelilla. The 125cc C brought victory to Daniel Frösslund with Robin Sjösten and Roger Mortier behind him. The 125cc D class was for the Norwegian Bogar Lunde Svinås ahead of Håkan Johnsson and Daniel H Svensson from Sweden.

Resumed we must say that the SMK KRISTIANSTAD under the inspiring control of her President Jörgen Larsson and the President of the organisation committee Agne Gunnarsson provided us with perfect work.

The International Youth 2003 organized by the TCD Hummelo. These people were keeping things rolling during the weekend. There were 219 of the 270 riders who signed on, present in Hummelo to take part in the Race-Tech Youth International. This race weekend, better known as the "Honest International Youth" was renamed because the organizing club, the TCD Hummelo found in the company of Alfred Uytdewilligen a very good event sponsor. The riders ones again came down with family and supporters from 13 countries in the world. Some had to travel 2200 km and others 10 hours to fly. But the riders, and also the organization, were very satisfied over this weekend, and also the days before the races were excellent stuff. Already the first participants arrived on Monday the 28th of July.

At this two days lasting event came in the 85 cc 12/13 years (82 participants), the 85 cc 14/16 years (36 participants) and the 125 cc (101 participants) to start. The 85cc 12/13 and the 125cc already on the Saturday raced 2 qualification heats, to determine who was in the A, B or C final for the Sunday. Also the Nation teams were picked by the Team captains after the 1st day.  From each class the 3 best riders by country are then chosen to fight for the Nations cup.

In short spoken a beautiful event, and that was proved, because we saw a large contention of names who are or were something in motocross, like the former 125cc world champion Pedro Tragter, but also ex winner (in 1996) Kenneth Gundersen, Wyatt Avis, Robert Carlsson, Antti Pyrhonen, Jan Rune Fuglerud (of course he came to encourage his brother who raced.), Kenneth Gundersen asked when interviewed by the big boss of this event Herman Hoff, that it proves, that here are racing the newcomers and winners in the GP for the coming years.

On Saturday evening there was a great Nation presentation that due to the support of JOPA Racing product (one of long time sponsors of this event) went well. It appears in the morning that the Dutch Motorcycle organization( not aware of it) had brought with them the old South African flag. Although the factory was closed, Mrs. Ine Paus productmanager of Jopa sewed a new flag in cordura, that will last a couple of years. Anyhow, the presentation went great and many new friendships between riders and their parents were ones again born over here. It was in a great harmony between the participating countries reinforced in particularly.

In the 85 cc 12/13 years B final we had two riders, who run into problems during Saturdays Qualification. German Lars Oldkamp gained triumph due to a better result in 2nd heat over Belgium's Jeremy Deline. 3rd place went to the Norwegian rider Andreas Gultvedt and the Eric Westermark from Sweden took fourth place ahead of Dutchman Robin Put. The A finals were over 3 heats. In the 85cc 12/13 years is was well stretching, because between the No 1, Nikolaj Larsen from Denmark, and the no.2, Emil Rydell from Sweden, was not more as 3 points difference. And also the distances between this two riders were sometimes no longer as a couple of meters. Third became the flying little Latvian Davis Ivanovs whereas the 4th place went to Belgium's Jens Verheijen. Little Alan Keet from the UK could take along with him home the 5th place. The 85cc 14/16 years already raced two heats in the Saturday and as expected, nobody could match the speed of the Dutch Flyer(5th in the World championship in Asti) Rinus vd Ven (in this heavy sand in the form of his time). After that he won all the heats, although in the final one he was pushed hard by Brittan's Ray Rowson.3th and 4th place went to the Swedish riders Richard Sandberg and Per Nyberg (who did not determine the travel of 2200km therefore) Emil Larsen from Denmark the older brother of the winner in the youngest class caught the 5th place and therefore picked up a beautiful trophy sponsored by JR Motor tuning from Veendam.

In 125 cc there was an A, B and C final. C final winners were Mats Akerblom from Sweden, 2nd Rik Broer, 3ht Rick Cock, 4th Daimler Eijsink (all Dutchman) and 5th Morten Pedersen from Denmark. In the B final were the winners of the five trophy, from Van der Haar Racing: Markus Erikksson, 2: Niclas Olsson, Anders Pettersson (all from Sweden) ahead of Magnus Fuglerud (Norway) and Rik Willemsen Holland. In the A final there were a surprising winner, being the little Fin Eero Remes. After questioning the Scandinavian riders, it appeared that not many know about him. Just in time (with 4 weeks to go) he signed on (replacing injured Antti Metsola). Second place came in the hands of Swedish Andreas Johansson, who each time caught the holeshot (and that helps a lot) on his four stroke 250cc Yamaha. For the Danish Champion Kasper Jensen was the third spot overall, after winning the first in taking second place in the second heat. He scored after a tumble not to well in the third heat and that cost him for sure a better position, racing ones again on his 125cc He-Ja tuned Yamaha. The oldest participant in this field (6 time in the Honest International Youth) Swedish Richard Nilsson from Tomelilla took 4th spot, and also the 5th place went to Sweden as 14 years young Johan Carlsson took it.  He was previous year in the Swedish round held in Kristianstad the winner in the 85 cc 12/13 years!!.

At the Nations cup, again the Swedish team took home the largest trophy, they drove 987 points together. With 949 points Denmark became neatly 2nd. Due to the 5 triumphs of Rinus van der Ven, the Netherlands nevertheless came in as third, with 846 points for Great Britanie and a disappointing Norway, who last year were second, but this year were plagued due to injuries of some good riders. It was a very good Honest International Youth weekend. Now off to Sweden to look at the 25th version there on the 31 July and 1 august.

The International Youth 2004 organized by Tomelilla MK. Tomelilla Mk was the organizer of the 2004 Honest International and like the year before, they were blessed with some excellent weather over the whole week. Winner of the 85cc 12/13 years German's Ken Roczen and Jurypresident Peter Berglund. The Monday and Tuesday before the event Peter Berglund and Patrick Sjöstrand were having an MX School visited by almost 60 riders. On the Wednesday the organizer was granting everybody a free practice possibility. Saturday, the real work was on and the Trophy’s were handed out nice on time Sunday evening.

Best team once again by far was the Swedish Team, but all credit went Jurgen Sedlak from the German Team, who were the best in the 85cc 12/13 years. After qualification in the 12/13 years, Philip Thuresson, Rasmus Sjöberg, Lars Oldekamp and Cheriel Klein Kromhof were the best in points. The victory however went to the very small and young German Ken Roczen, who won two of the three heats. Dutchman Cheriel Klein Kromhof looked to be the best of all, but a couple of crashes in the second heat, together with a puncture on his back tire in the last heat cost him a podium place. Rasmus Jörgensen, took advantage from the tips from Dutch Top tuner Henk Jager from He-Ja Motortechnics, and scored consisted to become second overall. Fine riding was also showed by Tom Söderstrom, Philip Thuresson and Lars Oldekamp.

The 85cc 14/16 years with five straight heats over the weekend was without doubt the class of last year’s winner in the 12/13 years, Danish Nikolaj Larsen. In the last two heats Norwegians Edwin Pauli showed he could match Larsen, by winning both, but he scored one bad result. Fine riding also from the British rider Alexander Rockwell from the Isle of Man who scored a third overall. Best Swedish rider in this class was Kim Lindström, who came late under steam. The 125cc was very exiting. Eventual the victory was handed to Johan Carlsson, but Danish Kasper Jensen, was equal in points after three heats. In that case it’s a matter of the best results, and as Johan won two heats, he was declared winner. Swedish Markus Eriksson (a non qualifier in the GP of Sweden) was third overall, beating Yamaha’s development rider Dutchman William Saris. This race also saw the comeback of former winner (2 years ago) Kjetil Gundersen, who after a break two years was racing with a wild card from the promoter.

After Sweden was handed the nation cup, Denmark was a clear second ahead of Holland. Norway (with the biggest Team (apart from Sweden) were fourth. Almost 280 competitors were all looking back on great event, brought perfectly over the stage by Kent Sjöstrand and his fellow members from the Tomelilla MK.

The International Youth 2005 organized by MC Hjørring. Hjørring Motor club was the organizer of the 2005 Honest International and like the year before, they were also blessed with good weather although, on the Sunday there was a bit of rain at noon. On the Wednesday the organizer put on a open practice, and all riders were able to practice 3 times an half hour on the sandy Sønderskov banan. Best team ones again were the Swedish Team, although Denmark and Holland were not far behind. Sweden however did not win in any class, as in the category 85cc 12/13 years, runner up in last years event; Rasmus Jorgensen from Denmark was by far the best and won all the three heats.

Dutchman Cheriel Klein Kromhof was the best in points in the 85cc 14/16 years with not far behind him Sweden's Rasmus Sjöberg and Norwegians toper Robin Rene Feldbjerg. In the MX2 it looked like a Dutch 1,2,3, but ones again like in the years before William Saris run out of luck, when he seems to be the best, being hit by a bike in a small crash, hurting his arm. In the final race, he kept going, but could not manage a place under the top 20 leaving him to become 5th overall.Winner without doubt was the former winner in the 80cc Dutchman Rinus vd Ven, who saw next to him his fellow countryman Herjan Brakke, winner of the last heat. Third place went to Mikke Mikkelsen from Norway.

Sweden was ones again ( for the sixth time in a row) the winner of the nation cup with 963 points, Denmark took a fine second place with 953 and Holland were on 943 points. Almost 250 competitors were all looking back on great event, brought perfectly over the stage by Jens Steffensen and his fellow members from the MC Hjørring.

The International Youth 2006 organized by MSV Heerde. Almost 300 Youth MX'ers from the whole of Europe stood last weekend last registered for 27th Honest international Youth on the piste of the MSV-NOV in Heerde Holland. But eventually approximately 200 riders from eleven European nations and South Africa effectively came into action on the fine prepared track on the Kamperweg in the middle of Holland.

Earlier in the week (Wednesday) the track was plagued by heavy rain showers and as a result of that, the arisen deep sand track and the squelch underground took then already their toll. Nevertheless the Saturday (qualification) and Sunday (race day) went very well, as the Club managed (by hard working day and night) to prepare the track in perfect condition. The piste was heavy and in particularly the younger riders on their 85cc bikes found that the condition were demanded. In the 85cc 11 to 13 years, Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings (son of former GP rider Peter Herlings) looked to be unbeatable after winning the first heat.  But in the second heat he started making mistakes and last years number four; Swedish Robert Bergman took advantage of it by winning. In the third and final heat Bergman proved that he was the best and had the condition, by finishing some 25 seconds ahead of the others.

In the 14 up to 16 years the strongest without any doubt was Dutchman Mike van den Bogaert he did not have big problems (apart from a small crash in the second heat) to beat the others, although Norwegian Kevin Stokke (who seems to have a better physical condition) was not to far behind him in all the heats. Dutchman Arno van Tienen showed that his nomination for the WC in Vantaa was a right thing, when he finished far away from the others three in all heats. In the MX 2 class 14 up to 18 years, because of the absent of the Swedish top and the bad weather, the event was boneheaded and the MX 2-Classe was this time divided into three groups of almost 40 riders, were out the bests 13 made it for the A-final. The rest were divided over the B and C Finals. 22 of the 40 finalists were having a Dutch licence. Therefore it was no surprise that locals such as Cheriel Klein Kromhof (reining ADAC 85cc Champion and last years winner) and Herjan Brakke, did not have many problems to knock down the foreign concurrence. After a shimmering fight the biggest trophy this time went to Ceriel Klein Kromhof (16 years today), who with a third and two victories scored 145 out of the maximum 150. Herjan Brakke impressed with three times a second place after coming back from a 4 weeks period of injury. Surprising third was Mike Voorwinden who took advantage of the fall of William Saris in the final heat.

The Dutch delegation took the nation cup, without many problems, followed by the Team of Denmark and the UK. Some photo's on www.motocrossmedia.nl  and the results are by now on www.mylaps.com.

The International Youth 2007 organized by SMK Kristianstad Sweden. In his opening word in the official program of the event, Clubpresident Jörgen Larsson promised us, a real Swedish Summer, and that came as a fact!! Nearly 245 riders showed up at the 28th Honest International, organised this time for the third time in total by the SMK Kristianstad on their sandy Ripa Track near Åhus in the south of Sweden. Groups of almost 40 riders, were out the bests 13 made it for the A-final. The rest were divided over the B and C Finals.

In the meantime they know the tricks over here and with almost 100 volunteers and heads of staff who work hear since 10 years or more the whole week went extremely well. The riders came from eight European nations and the newcomers among them were the Scottish riders headed by former organizer and nowadays president of the SACU Andrew Russel and former GP rider Stuart Flockhart.  The Scottish team in particularly made it a fine show during the Nation presentation, when they arrived with two bagpipe players wearing kilts and playing Scotland the brave!! The event was boosted by some fine weather, and on the first three days the famous Swedish MX trainer Peter Berglund was having a couple of sessions with those who were earlier there. The track like last year was heavy and in particularly for the younger riders on their 85cc bikes. We were blessed with only two minor accidents. Herjan Brakke (two times a second place winner in our event) was the winner and without doubts the best in the MX 2 class, beating Sweden’s Filip Thuresson and Tom Söderström. In the 85cc class nobody could match the speed of the quit Adam Rydell, who beat his fellow countryman Viktor Björklund. Third on the rostrum was the winner of the final heat British Sam Davis.

The Swedish team was far away the strongest in the Nation cup, ahead of Denmark and England.

2008 sees the Honest International returning to Scotland for the first time in 14 years. The venue for the 29th Honest International Youth Motocross is Duns in the scenic Scottish Borders. Hope to see you all then. Get your entries in early.
