MAXXIS ACU British Motocross Championship Round 3 - 2nd May 2010The 2010 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship returns to Duns in Scotland for the second year in succession. This year the event will be run over the May Bank Holiday Weekend and everyone will be hoping for better weather conditions than we had in 2009. The ACU Maxxis Series is the premier Motocross Championship in Britain. With a number of local Scottish and North East England riders fairing extremely well in the championship over recent years this event is the chance for the Northern contingency of Motocross fans to really get behind their favourite rides and help cheer them on to success. Both Championship classes were decided at the Duns event in 2009. Brad Anderson from Newcastle winning his first MX1 class championship, and Stephen Sword from Lockerbie took the honours in the MX2 championship. 2010 sees Swordy move up to the MX1 class and he will be competing head to head with Ando and the rest of the lads for MX1 class honours. Other local riders to watch out for will be current MX1 Scottish Champion Ross Rutherford along with Sean MacDonald. In the MX2 class local riders include Bryan MacKenzie, Tommy Fenwick, Matthew Fleming, Ricky Mair, James Hutchinson and Pete Mitchell. The championship takes on an exciting new race format for 2010. The races will be shorter and more frequent with an all new three race format. Gone are the old two-races per day format for MX1 and MX2 classes, now riders will take to the track for three 20-minute races at each round. That’s six fast paced action packed main races together with the qualifying, superpole qualifying and the support races over the course of the day.
